BEFORE OPPORTUNITY

As we journey into the New Year, it is important to learn how to work with opportunities. In doing this, I have brought you an excerpt from my book “All You Need Is Opportunity”.  Be conversant with your God given purpose and potential
The first thing you need to do before searching for opportunity is the knowledge you must have about your purpose and potential, because every opportunity will place a demand on them.
You are here on planet earth for a specific reason. This is what you are to fulfil in the course of your stay on earth. Every opportunity is therefore towards the revealing of your purpose. Every opportunity that comes you way is to expose the purpose of God for your life.
Knowing your purpose is not enough; you must have the knowledge of your potential. This is essential because your purpose will always have the need of your potential to be fulfilled. The knowledge of this will ultimately help you appropriate the opportunities at your disposal, and moreso the ones you are not meant to exploit.

 Develop your skills
To be more candid with you, it is important to know that the opportunities that open to you are traceable to your several abilities or skills, which are also referred to your gifts, talents or potentialities. You have to discover them and undertake any activity that will develop them for your own benefit. I think this is one of the greatest investments you could ever make for life and for yourself.
This is necessary all opportunities will require a measure of developed skills for maximum exploitation. Get the required knowledge and skill that your gift or qualification will need for efficient utilisation of opportunities.
One thing you must know is that no how meagre or fabulous your present opportunity is; it will only require developed skills and knowledge to tap into the fortunes lying in it.

 Desire
You must also have a desire to fulfil your dreams, realize your ideas, etc. It is this desire that will prompt you for an unquenchable search for an opportunity in a bid to fulfilling your dreams.
Don’t wait for manna to fall from heaven. You have the manna within you in form of dreams, ideas, purpose, skills, etc. you only need desire to bring them to limelight via opportunity.

 Be Relational
In the previous chapter, I put forward that one of the ways to get opportunities is to have and maintain good relationships. This is crucial because you will always need someone to help you fulfil your dreams and you will also need someone to take you to the next phase of life. You what! In such relationships, just a mere “signature” might bring you to a world of fortune.
People are opportunities you will ever need to reach your pinnacle. Hence Pst. Faith Oyedepo (Mrs), said, “Where there are no people, the vision perishes.” Learn to be relational with the right people that can serve as opportunities for you knowing that you need them to accomplish your dreams and purpose, and also they need you to get theirs fulfilled.

 Understudy the opportunity
That I said, “all you need is opportunity” does not mean that you should invest in or go into the exploitation of every opportunity. This is where wisdom and discretion comes to play.
You should be able to know the opportunity to invest in and which you should not. Many people are duped today because they never understudied the opportunities that appeared to them as a great fortune. Be wise!
Above all, don’t slack when you discover the right opportunity. It will do you no good.
