Developing The Forgiving Heart

Developing the Forgiving Heart

It is important to note that offenses will surely come. As long as we are living in this flesh and in this world, offenses will surely come.

And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. -1 John 5:19

We are presently in a world of wickedness. And so wickedness is a normal thing in the world.

But for us who are God's children, wickedness is not in our blood, not in our spirit, nor nature. And so, we cannot deal wickedly to others.

However, as God's children, when wickedness comes to us as offense from people, we have the authority and choice to forgive.

You cannot stop people from offending you, but you can choose to forgive when the offense come.

Luke 17:1-2
1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Just as we cannot stop people from offending us, so also one should stop us from forgiving them.

Luke 17:3-4
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Forgiveness is a sign of maturity in the spirit.

Ephesians 4:31 -32
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

As God's children we are expected to forgive just as Christ forgave us. We are not true representatives of Christ if we don't forgive like Christ.

Colossians 3:12-14

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

How to Develop a Forgiving Heart.

1. Know that you are not perfect.

With this understanding you will also know that others are not perfect. And because of this they will act imperfectly which may offend you.

2. Know that people will definitely offend you. (Luke 17:1)

You can't stop people from offending you but you have a choice of what to do with the offense. Whether to nurse it in you heart or to forgive from your heart.

3. Tell people their offenses. (Luke 17:3)

When people offend you, don't just keep it in mind. Tell people what they did to you wrongly. By doing this you clear your mind from bitterness and prepares it to forgive.

However in the case where you may not see the person tell God what the person did and forgive.

4. Allow the love of Christ to overwhelm your heart.

Every true forgiveness is from the heart of love. You cannot love without forgiving.

The more you allow the love of Christ in your heart the more you are quick to forgive from the heart.

5. Be ready to forgive when people ask for it.

6. Always remember that Christ has forgiven you too. (Colossians 3:13)

As we continue in this teaching series, I believe God will remold our hearts to become tender and full of love so we will be able to forgive any one that trespasses against us.

Be blessed.

Living Beyond Curses

Living Beyond Curses

It takes the blessings of God to leave beyond curses.

Number 22:6-12

6 Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.
7 And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.
8 And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
9 And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?
10 And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,
11 Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.
12 And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

The blessings of God forbids the curses of men.

Gal. 3: 13-14

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

As a redeemed child, you have ben taken from curses and placed in the blessings of God.

Potentially, you an embodiment of the blessings of God.

You must learn how to leave in the blessings for the blessings to become a reality in your life.

There is no curse the blessings of Gd cannot destroy. To destroy curses then you learn how to live in the blessings of God.

Obedience to God is the primary way to live beyond curses.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28

26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

It takes obedience to the will of God to live above and beyond the curses in the world.

You cannot obey God and live under a curse.

Job 36:11-12

11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

You escape curses by simply obeying God.

Isaiah 1:19-20

19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

The blessings of the Lord are received by our obedience to the will of God. So also our disobedience brings s curses.

The power of curse is in your disobedience.

Deuteronomy 28: 1-3, 15

1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: -Deuteronomy 28:15

To live beyond curses, you must live to obey God

Building Confidence In Prayers

Building Confidence in Prayers

Luke 18:1 - 8

1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Prayer is one important activity in our spiritual life. You cannot separate prayers from your spiritual life.

However, praying alone does not just guarantee an answer. So we need to no what motivates God to answer our prayers.

We need boldness and assurance of faith when we approach God in prayers.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. -Hebrews 4:16

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. -Hebrews 10:22

Boldness and assurance of faith builds in us the confidence to prayer and also assure us that God will answer us.

So boldness and assurance of faith will bring confidence.

So if we know how to build our confidence for prayers then we will be sure to gains answer from the throne of grace whenever we pray.

How do you build confidence in prayers.

I want us to consider two ways to build confidence in our prayers.

Your Relationship with God.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. -2 Timothy 1:12

True confidence comes from relationship. The stronger your relationship with a person the stronger your confidence to talk with him.

In like manner, the stronger your relations with God the stronger your confidence in talking (praying) to Him.

Paul said "I know whom I have believed". He had a relationship with God and that gave him the boldness or confidence to always pray to God.

Until you grow in your relationship with God, you never have confidence in praying to Him.

You must develop your relationship with God via the study of the Word of God. The more you study Him, the more you know Him. And the more you know Him, the more you grow in your relationship with God. And this brings confidence.

Persuasion in the Ability of God.

Relationship will always brings persuasion. You can be persuaded in the ability of the person you are in relationship with.

And this persuasion now gives you confidence in your communication with the person.

In the same way, relationship with God will build in you persuasion in the ability of God and that will give you confidence to pray.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. -2 Timothy 1:12

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: -1 John 5:14

Until you are persuaded that God will answer your prayers you will ot receive an answer.

God works with our persuasion.

And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. -Romans 4:21

Abraham got the promise because he was fully persuaded that God could do what He had promised.

Two ways to develop confidence in prayers are:

Your relationship with God and your persuasion in the ability of God.

I challenge you to grow in knowing God and rest in the ability of God.

Blessings to you in Jesus Name.

Receiving Strength for Successful Living

Receiving Strength For Successful Living

It is important to begin by saying that it takes strength, I mean divine strength, to live successfully in fulfilling the purpose of God.

No weak person can be relevant in the Kingdom of God nor in the society.

Your level of usefulness is a product of your inner strength.

God created man to live a successful life.

However man's success was to be within the will of God and within the environment God has placed him. Adam was only successful while he was in Eden.

Adam was lived a peaceful life full of achievement while he was in Eden and through the strength of God that was in him.

And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. -Genesis 2:19

But along the way, Adam became weak and lacked the strength of God to do the will of God and to exercise the his authority.

The devil came into his life and weakened him. And as a result, he could no longer fulfill his destiny nor live a successful life which God has ordained for him.

The major activity of the devil is to weaken people, nations so that they cannot live the life God has ordained for them.

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! -Isaiah 14:12

Until you are weakened by the devil, you cannot come under his afflictions.

Until you are weakened by the devil, he cannot have access into your like.

Satan will first weakened you by his lies, deceptions, wiles, fears, and doubts before he could have access into your life.

As long as the nations are under the weakening activity of the devil, the devil will always have control over them.

To live a successful life therefore we must overcome and live beyond the weakness the devils at us.

It will take the strength of God to live a successful life.

It will take the strength of God live above the weakening activity of the devil.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. -Philippians 4:13

I am able to do all things through him who gives me strength. -Philippians 4:13 (Bible in Basic English)

To every kingdom child, Christ is our strength.

Psalm 27:1-5

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

You cannot be strong until you are strengthened by Christ. And until you are strengthened by Christ you cannot live a successful life in the Kingdom.

If Christ is our strength or Christ is the one that strengthens us, then the more we relate with Him the more He infuses His strength into us.

Your relationship with Christ will determine your level of strength in living a successful life full of peace and blessings.

We grow in strength by growing in our relationship with Christ.

Prayer is one major way to tap into the strength of Christ as we relate with Him.

Acts 4:31 - 33

31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

The apostles had unusual strength because they prayed and maintained their relationship with the Lord.

You cannot be a man of strength if you are not a man of prayers.

And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. -Luke 4:14

After prayed 40 days and night, he returned with power of the Holy Spirit. The power of the Spirit simply means the strength of the Spirit.

He got the strength on the platform of prayers.

You cannot lack strength when you are given to prayers.

As you grow in prayers you also grow in strength.

As you grow in strength, you stand strong against the devil in establishing the will of God and at the same time, live successfully.

Primary Function of Prayers

The Primary Functions of Prayer

God has promised us peace this year. And our peace comes from the Lord Jesus because He is our prince (source) of peace.

Our relationship with the Lord will determine the level of peace we will enjoy here on earth.

Our relationship with God is the major route to the peace of God.

Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. -Job 22:21

Until you are in relationship with God, you cannot be at peace.

The more you grow in relationship with God the more your peace abounds and increase.

We grow in our relationship with God by knowing Him. The more you know Him, the more you relate and grow in relating with Him.

The more we know Him, the more we grow to be like Him.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. -Romans 8:29

God's greatest desire is to know Him and be conformed to Him.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; -Philippians 3:10

One way to constantly know God is through prayers.

The primary function of prayer therefore is not to get blessings from God but to know God.

Prayer is given us as a medium to conform us to the image of the Son of God.

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, -Galatians 4:19

Jesus prayed and He was changed.

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. -Luke 9:29

If your prayers changes from give me, bless me, I receive and I claim, to make me like you, conform me to your nature, you will begin to enjoy the peace of God and the blessings you never asked for.

Let your prayer bringing to the point where God will cloth you .
