Don't Be Offended in God

Don't Be Offended In God

Matthew  11:1-6
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

To be offended means to be upset or feel hurt.

It means you are with somebody because he did not meet your expectation.

It means to be hurt by somebody's attitude.

We have to types of people that come to church.

1. People that are offended in God.

Like John the baptist, this set of people are offended in God because He did not come to them at the time they wanted Him.

They are offended in God because they believe God has not done much compared to His ability.

They are offended in God because they have not seen the answers to their prayers.

They are offended in God because they have not seen their breakthrough.

They are offended in God because to them God is not acting fast.

They are offended in God when they see God blessing other people instead of them.

So when they come to church, they come with an angry mind. They pray angrily, question every thing done in the church. They are half minded in church.

They have not come to worship but to quarrel with the almighty.

You cannot enjoy God's intervention and blessings when you are offended in God.

2. People that rejoice in God.

This set of people rejoice in God whether God come to them or not.

They rejoice in God whether God answers their prayers or not.

They are happy having God not receiving His blessings. They know that having God is more than having every other thing.

Habakkuk 3:17-19
17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. . . .

Whenever you choose to rejoice in God, you make yourself available for the uplifting of God.

Instead of being offended in God, please rejoice in God.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. -Philippians 4:4

To rejoice in the Lord is the safest thing to do.

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. -Philippians 3:1

It is safe because in rejoicing in God you move Him to manifest Himself in your and situation.

John the baptist was beheaded in the prison because he was offended in Christ. He could not receive deliverance because he was offended in his maker and savior.

This means, to rejoice in God moves God to deliver us from every form of imprisonment and captivity.

Those that rejoice in God always give thanks in all situations.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. -1 Thessalonians 5:18

How Do I Cultivate the Habit of Rejoicing in God?

1. Appreciate the life you have.

Psalm 150:6 -  Let everything that has breathe praise the Lord.

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. -Ecclesiastes 9:4

2. Recognize that you were made by God.
Psalm 100:3-4

3. Concentrate on What God has Done.
Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. -Acts 14:17

Whenever you focus on what God has not done you will become offended in Him. But learn to concentrate and rejoice on what God has done and praise Him ahead for the remaining things He will do for you.

4. Know that ALL THINGS are working together for your good.

Romans 8:28

5. Know that God will never forsake nor leave you helpless.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.  -John 14:18

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. -Hebrews 13:5

I assure you that as you rejoice in God, He will come to rescue you and manifest Himself in your life.

Peace!!!

Winning from the Inside

Winning from Inside

Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker. -2 Samuel 3:1

Saul represents the old nature, self, flesh or the sinful nature.

David represents the new man, divine nature which we got through the redemption of the Christ, sanctified self or righteous nature.

This two nature just like David and Saul, they are having a long war in our soul. They are striving for the control of the entire being. To the one we yield ourselves, to whom become servant. If Saul wins, then we become servant of Saul unto sin, but if David wins, then we yield ourselves to holiness hence becoming the servants of righteousness.

For one nature to win, the other must become weak.

While David was waxing stronger and stronger to win the long lasted war, the house of saul waxed weaker and weaker.

The house of David in us, which is the new nature, must wax stronger and stronger on a daily bases into order to win the war over the house of Saul, which is the old nature, sinful nature which we inherited from Adam.

However for the house of David in us to wax stronger, we must deliberately feed our souls with the eternal word of God which has power to transform the human mind in conforming us to the image of the son of God- the new nature residence in us.

The old nature and the new nature will never come to balance. Just like David and Saul, one must assume the position of authority and rulership in order for us to live in the fulness of the Godhead.

Do you want to live in the abundance of God's presence and partake of His divine nature? Then you have the sole responsibility of feeding your heart with the word of God for the new man in you (the house David) wax stronger and stronger to take charge of your entire being.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. -Romans 8:5

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. -Romans 8:7

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. -Romans 8:8

Saul, who represents the old nature, could not pleased God. Following Saul will therefore not make us to please. In fact we cannot please God in the house of Saul.

Our pleasing God is right in the house of David, the new nature, Christ. Remember, God testified that David was a man after His own heart. This means David lived to pleased God. Again God said of Christ as His beloved son in whom He is well pleased.

This means, in the house of David, we can please God. And this house of David is the new nature that is controlled by the Spirit of God through the Word of God.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. -Romans 8:14

The house of David is ruled by God Himself. Once God leads us, then we will please Him. But we must allow Him to lead us.

And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron. -2 Samuel 2:1

David was led by God, so he pleased God.

The new nature is led by God, and so, it pleases God.

Let the Spirit of God lead you today. Renew your mind through the word of God. Then your new nature will wax stronger and stronger in winning the war over the house of Saul, the old nature.

God bless you today.

The Power of Giving

The Power of Giving

God has designed life to function by giving.

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.  -Luke 6:38

The beauty of life in giving.

You start dying when you stop giving.

Our giving comes back to us in 4 major ways.

1. Good measure

2. Press down

3. Shaken together

4. Running over.

With these, none of our giving comes back to us the same way we released it.

Our giving does among others the following things:

1. Giving brings us into good relationship with God.
Gen. 4:4, Hebrews 11:4
Abel had a testimony of good relationship with God by God receiving his giving.

2. Giving has power to avert curses
Gen.8:20 -21
After Noah gave, God averted the curse He had placed on the earth. When you develop the habit of giving, you consciously break curse upon your life and family.

3. Giving brings us in favor with God.
1 Kings 3:3-5
Solomon came into favour with God the moment he gave to God a well pleasing offering.

4. Giving opens the door of favor and blessings upon our lives and endeavors.
Luke 6:38, Acts 20:35
Abraham opened the door of fruitfulness to Sarah by giving food to strangers.
Gen.18:1-5, 9-10;
Gen.21:1-2

5. Giving creates our future harvest.
Gen. 8: 20-22,
Gal. 6: 7-9.

I believe this brief teaching will help you develop the habit of giving and also consider giving a delightsome thing to the Lord and man. This is because you will definitely reap it back.

By Robin May
This week's topic: A Life Of Success

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I’m sure everyone at some point in their life has been asked this question. And most often, when we were younger our answers were based on what sparked our interest at the time. My childhood answers ranged from wanting to be a famous gymnast to an actress to a unicorn. Don’t ask.

By the time we are 18 years old, many of us attempted to answer that question by determining our college major. And often we found (after four very expensive years) that we still had no idea what we wanted to be.

But I am sure you can agree that the one thing we all have in common is this one desire: each of us has a desire to be successful.

What defines success for each of us may be different, but I would be shocked to hear someone say “I have no desire for success. I am totally fine with not striving in any area of my life.”

Webster defines success as: a favorable or desired outcome.

Although success encompasses different things for each of us, I believe we can all agree with Webster. Success means reaching our desired outcome and often that means having access to what matters the most in our lives.

Recently I was getting my children ready to attend a back-to-school event that my husband hosts annually in our home town. As we were preparing for the event, my oldest daughter Ryann (4 yrs old) began asking me questions about it.

“Mommy, will they let me eat food at my daddy’s event?”
“Mommy, will they let me jump on the jumpy’s at my daddy’s event?”
“Mommy, will they let me get my face painted at my daddy’s event?”

I calmly answered each of the questions by saying, “Yes Ryann. This is your daddy’s event. That means you have full access to all of the fun stuff that is going to be there.”

Okay. Maybe I didn’t respond calmly, but you get the point.

And isn’t this a great lesson for us as adults?

As each of us longs to live a life that is meaningful, impactful, and yes…even successful, we often forget that we have full access to everything we need to be who God created us to be!

We do not have to ask for permission to walk in our destiny.
We do not have to ask for permission to enjoy the blessings of life.
We do not have to ask for permission to live the life God has designed for us.

Maybe you don’t believe me. But I’m sure you’ll believe the Word:

John 10: 10 says that God’s purpose for His children: “…is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”(NLT)

Psalm 24:1 says: “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it….” (NIV)

James 1:17 tells us: “So, my very dear friends, don't get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven.” (The Message)

Psalm 84:11 promises: “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (NKJV)

Jeremiah 29:11 declares: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (KJV)

Unfortunately, just like Ryann, we often find ourselves asking for permission to truly enjoy the promises that our Daddy has for us. We are asking permission to be who God created us to be.

But starting today, let’s commit together to live a life of success, which means a life that gives us full access to the promises of God.

It is our inheritance as children of the King.

Scripture Of The Day: “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” – John 10:10 (NLT)
